J.K. Rowling has stated several times that the world of Harry Potter has indeed come to a close, though as fans know that is a statement to be taken with a grain of salt. Since the last Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, fans have received numerous additions to the cannon through Pottermore, theatrical plays, and novellas.

The newly released Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is a perfect example of this, and while fans are more than excited to reenter the magical world once again, there is another bit of Potter history that they’ve been clamoring for.
That bit of history revolves around the Marauders, a group of friends who attended the Hogwarts school of magic many years earlier. The group consisted of James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, and their actions are well known in Harry Potter lore, and three of them inevitably gave their life for Harry in some shape or form.
While it doesn’t appear that the Marauders will hit the big screen anytime soon (Fantastic Beasts is scheduled for five films total), there is a fan film in the works. The project has been in development for a few years, and you can see the initial trailer for the project in the video above. The official description can be found below.
The year is 1977, and You-Know-Who’s forces are growing stronger. With the end of the Marauders’ time at school drawing closer, everyone is forced to choose a side. Based on the stories and events of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
The fan film is directed by Aaron Rivin and written by Riven, Sawyer Paine, and Ben Wessels, with Victoria Loubert producing. The film stars Laura Tarver, Andrew Flynn, Sawyer Paine, Ben Wessels, Evan Vihlen, and Leo Blais, and if you’re interested in finding out more about it you can check out their official Facebook page.
