At least two reports have surfaced today purporting to reveal that DC Comics plans to kill Green Lantern Corps star John Stewart--and that the decision was the one that caused I, Vampire writer Joshua Hale Fialkov to quit the series and Red Lanterns, another Green Lantern Family book that he was set to begin writing along with GLC soon. Comic Book Resources has confirmed rumors that started earlier today, that Stewart is marked for death and that, presumably, Fialkov's departure won't alter those plans. Incoming writers Van Jensen and Robert Venditti will have to tackle that story, and it will be up to them whether to follow DC's directive or try to change the publisher's mind. "First off, I'm not commenting on anything other than what I posted. Secondly, I'm actually REALLY sick. So no offense for lack of replies," tweeted Fialkov, presumably inundated by fan requests to confirm the rumor. The writer has been receiving public support from fans and other comics professionals for nearly two days now, after rumors began circulating that he was to step down yesterday morning.
