Man of Steel Predictions

While the summer blockbuster movie season will likely kick off with Iron Man 3 in May 2013, a lot is riding on the premiere of the Man of Steel in June 2013. If Man of Steel flops, then it's probably going to be a long time before fans see another Superman movie. If Man of Steel is a runaway success, then sequels and a Justice League movie will likely soon follow. The entire fate of the shared DC Comics Movie Universe is likely riding on Man of Steel. Here are our top five predictions for Man of Steel. 5. Man Of Steel Has A Strong $100 Million Plus Opening Weekend –While Man of Steel doesn't set any overall opening weekend box office records, it has the best opening ever at the U.S. box office for a Superman movie. Warner Bros. is pleased and points out that the Man of Steel had twice the opening of Batman Begins which premiered at $48.7 million. 4. Man Of Steel Sequel Announced – With the Harry Potter series over and Batman in limbo, Warner Bros. is ecstatic over the success of the Man of Steel. Since they jumped the gun with talk of a Green Lantern sequel before the movie even premiered, Warner Bros. cautiously waits for the first weekend box office results, but then wastes no time in announcing plans for a Man of Steel sequel. 3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt Makes A Cameo – While he doesn't appear in any type of costume, we predict Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes a cameo appearance in Man of Steel. The appearance is vague enough that it leaves the door open as to whether he could potentially be Batman in a shared DC Comics Universe. 2. Justice League Set-Up In After The Credits Scene – While there is no hint of the Justice League during Man of Steel, we predict the Justice League is set up in an after the credits scene.  Warner Bros. has seen the success that Marvel Studios had with The Avengers, and they will not waste the opportunity to start laying the ground work for a superhero team movie of their own. 1. Critics Rave Superman Is Back – After the disappointing Superman Returns, critics will actually be pleased to see a really good Superman movie. There will be lots of rave reviews saying it is the best Superman movie since 1978. Positive word of mouth will carry the film above $300 million at the U.S. box office.
