Man, Mark Millar has been busy the last couple of days.

In an interview with IGN, the Civil War and Kick-Ass scribe predicted that the superhero movie craze isn't running out of gas just yet...and that there will be at least another give years before it does.

That's handy, since both Marvel and DC have their plans locked down through 2020, so a slump in the market right now could prove embarrassing when somebody decides that Green Lantern Corps or Inhumans won't actually happen.

"There's been forty-five superhero movies or something over the last fifteen years," he said. "They can't all work out fantastically. I'd still say the rate has worked out terrifically compared to most genres."

The comment was in response, in part, to a question about the failure of Fantastic Four. Asked whether he thought Steven Spielberg was right that superhero films would go the way of the Western, Millar praised the forthcoming Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy sequels as well as Batman V Superman...and had a little fun with the Westerns comparison.

"The human race will go the way of the Western at some point; everything has to end at some point," Millar joked. "I think it's got at least another good five years in it. The stuff that's coming up is so strong."
