Just yesterday, Marvel Studios shocked the comic book movie world by announcing that Michael Douglas had been cast as Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man movie from director Edgar Wright. In a day and age, when almost every major casting announcement seems to leak to the press ahead of time, Michael Douglas' casting was one of those true shockers that no one saw coming. Many were surprised that the two-time Academy Award winning actor would want to do a superhero movie at this stage of his career. However, it turns out that the veteran actor has been wanting to do a Marvel movie for a long time. Not only has he signed on for the initial Ant-Man movie, but he also seems to be up for sequels if the opportunity arises. In an interview with Reuters after the casting announcement, Douglas said, ""I've been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor's 13-year-old son) will love it. He'll have a picture he can see." Even though Ant-Man won't be released in theaters until July 31, 2015, it's never too early to start talking about sequels when it comes to comic book movies. In teasing the possibility of a sequel, Douglas said, "(Marvel) reciprocated well, there are sequels. Who knows?" Ant-Man is premiering after Avengers: Age of Ultron, so don't look for Douglas to appear in the Avengers sequel. However, there is always the possibility that Ant-Man and Douglas could be part of Avengers 3. Micheal Douglas is currently appearing in the film Last Vegas (as shown in the photo above), which is in theaters now.
