In the 27-second clip, Kermit offers up some life advice in his classic, not overly serious style.
“Dreams are how we figure out where we want to go; life is how we get there,” the puppet says before promptly getting a little confused as to where he’s going. You can hear Kermit’s new voice in the video above.
Vogel’s debut as the popular puppet was met with mixed reviews in comments on the video with some feeling that Vogel wouldn’t be able to fill Whitmire’s shoes.
Disney fired Whitmire, who had voiced Kermit the Frog for nearly thirty years, back in July. Initially no reason was given for his exit, but following Whitmore’s accusations that he was pushed out due to concerns for the character Disney clarified that the veteran voice actor had been dismissed over unprofessional behavior.
Vogel, who both voiced and operated Kermit’s doppelganger Constantine in 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted is just the third person to give Kermit voice since his creation in 1955. Muppets creator Jim Henson voiced Kermit until his death in 1990 when Whitmire assumed the role.
