The film adaptation of Paul Pope's graphic novel Battling Boy has found a director. Patrck Osborne will helm the film for Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.

Osbrone won this year's Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for Feast. He's also worked as an animator on films like Big Hero 6, Wreck-It Ralph, and Tangled.

Battling Boy is Pope's story about a pre-teen demigod who travels to the dystopian world of Acropolis to take the place of the realm's fallen hero. The film version has been in development since 2008, even though the first graphic novel wasn't published by First Second until 2013. That graphic novel was followed by the prequels The Death of Haggard West and The Rise of Aurora West.

Another of Paul Pope's graphic novels, The One-Trick Ripoff, was also recently optioned by startup studio Modern Prometheus.
