Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to the classic 1980s arcade game Space Invaders, according to The Wrap.
The film will be produced by Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell through Weed Road and Safehouse Pictures.
Considering Space Invaders' simple gameplay and almost complete lack of narrative, there's not exactly a ton to draw on from the source material, meaning characters and plot will have to be created from scratch for the film adaptation.
