Now that The Walking Dead on AMC has made the transition from being a largely nomadic show to one that exists inside of a settlement with other characters around, it's easy to assume that most settlements will be more or less the same.

Not so, according to executive producer Scott Gimple, who talked with EW about the introduction of the Hilltop Community, a staple of the comics that be introduced in the second half of Season Six.

"The Hilltop has had a completely different path than Alexandria or Rick's group," Gimple said. "It's just a whole different experience of the Apocalypse and that has resulted in a very, very different place than Alexandria."

That different experience will bring us some fan-favorite characters, soon, who will help Rick and company deal with the coming of Negan. So we'll see how that pans out.

The Walking Dead returns tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
