In an interview with Nerdist published a little more than a week ago, actor Titus Welliver said that Transformers: Age of Extinction was "not a kids movie." Given how much of the franchise's marketing is aimed directly at kids, that statement raised a few eyebrows. Welliver has revised his statement at Nerdist, saying:

"I misspoke in my last interview when I said that Transformers 4 was not a kids movie…what I meant was that this film, will in fact expand their target audience and bring in a bigger fan base. Following the huge success of Transformers and their toy line, it is certainly a kids movie and with the addition of Mark Wahlberg, Transformers 4 will be the coolest in the franchise."

So it appears that Welliver was trying to say that it was a film for all ages, rather than a film that is specifically not suitable for children. In Transformers: Age of Extinction, a mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons - and a paranoid government official - on them. Transformers: Age of Extinction comes to theaters June 27, 2014.
