Who needs physical cards anymore? These days, it's all about the hot Topps (veterans of the trading card business) "Star Wars Card Trader" App on iOS and Android. The digital app allows fans to "buy" packs of cards using in-game credits (which in turn can be bought using real money, of course), filling out colored collections. The collections feature cards from every era of Star Wars film and television, with characters like Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Sabine, Ahsoka, and more featured alongside iconic vehicles and locations.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh episodic film in the series, was featured early on in the Card Trader's inception, with the first screens from the film presented in a style similar to the classic scene cards released for the original trilogy. Today, new cards launch to help welcome the new characters, and honor the old.
Cards feature rollaway hit BB-8, both on his own card and alongside Poe and Rey, plus new looks at the major villains of the piece. Of the legacy characters, C-3PO and R2-D2 are in the background of a card, but Chewbacca gets one of his own, looking fierce with bowcaster in hand. There's also a shot on that card of Chewie playing co-pilot to... Rey? Hmm, a hint to her identity, or at least her destiny? Maybe.
Check out the cards in the gallery below, and if you're trying to collect them all yourself, well, May the Force be with you.
