GAME OF THRONES SEASON 7 SPOILERS FOLLOW

Earlier this week, a photo surfaced of Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark, having makeup applied alongside Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark. This was being done at the same time that Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, was also on set.

If you’re caught up with Game of Thrones as of Season 6, you’ll remember that Jon Snow is now “King in the North” and ruling from Winterfell alongside Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner. Bran had just made his way back to the wall after gaining the powers of the Three-Eyed Raven. Arya, having completed as much of her Faceless Man training as she was willing, returned to Westeros and assassinated Walder Frey and his sons at the Twins.

House Stark’s return to power in the North, and the return of several Stark children to Westeros, already had fans speculating that a Stark family reunion was in the works. That may still be the case, but new reports suggest that is not actually what was being filmed the day the photo of Bran and Maisie was taken.

According to the report, Wright was on set to film a scene between Bran and Dolorous Edd, played by Ben Crampton. Edd was made Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch after Jon Snow abdicated the position. Seeing as Bran โ€“ along with Meera Reed, played by Ellie Kendrick โ€“ need still to pass through the Wall in order to reach Winterfell, it makes sense that he would cross paths with Edd and the Night’s Watch on the way there.

Of course, the fact that Bran was filming a scene with Edd on that day and not taking part in the Stark family reunion doesn’t mean that such a reunion won’t still take place during Game of Thrones Season 7. In fact, it makes a lot of sense for Castle Black to be a pit stop along the way to such a reunion, given that Bran still believes Jon is Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. All this means is that the Stark family reunion is yet to be confirmed.

However, there is one reunion that is rumored to be happening, and that’s a reunion between Jon Snow and Theon Greyjoy. Jon and Theon haven’t seen each other since Jon left Winterfell to join the Night’s Watch early in Season 1. In Game of Thrones Season 6, Theon returned home to the Iron Islands rather than reunite with Jon at Castle Black and potentially face Jon’s wrath for betraying House Stark. Apparently, all that Theon accomplished was postponing his meeting with Jon until Season 7.

What is perhaps more interesting is that this meeting will not happen in the North, according to the report. Instead, Jon and Theon will cross paths while Jon is traveling South. No word on why Jon has left Winterfell so soon after retaking it, but we have to wonder if Bran manages to make it back to Winterfell before Jon leaves, perhaps with a vision of Jon’s true heritage.

Game of Thrones Season 7 is now in production and will air on HBO in 2017.
