Carlton Cuse is one of the busiest men in the television. The former executive producer of LOST currently has his hands in a number of successful TV shows — one of which returns for its second season on Thursday night.

While speaking to Cuse about Colony‘s second season, which reunites him with LOST star Josh Holloway for an epic sci-fi saga on the United States’ west coast, it was natural to wonder if he and Holloway ever discuss revisiting the island while on set together. While the two never really discuss their time on LOST, according to Cuse, he does enforce a strict rule of Holloway’s Will Bowman character never calling people “Freckles” on Colony.

The show does manage to slip in a few of his fan-favorite, “Son of b—-!” lines, though.

As for LOST‘s future, Cuse has no desire to revisit the show which revolutionized television.

“For Damon [Lindelof] and myself, we really feel like we were given an incredible opportunity to tell the story we wanted to tell,” Cuse said. “It was really the first network show where we sort of dictated our own end date. We told the story we wanted to tell. To this date, there has not been any effort or any talk between us about doing anything else.”

Although he is sidelining himself when it comes to the show which ran for six years on ABC, Cuse has no problem with another set of writers stepping in to pick up where he and Lindelof left off.

“I do believe at some future point, someone else will do something in the LOST world and that’s okay,” Cuse said. “There probably are some young wonderful writers out there. Maybe Damion Chizell would like to do a musical in the world of LOST, I don’t know. He’s free to do it.”

Fans of LOST will like clamor for more of the hit show. Based on how the series ended, there is more than enough room to explore the island further. With Hugo “Hurley” Reyes and Benjamin Linus having stayed behind to take control of the island and get Desmond Hume back to his wife, the window to return to the south pacific is wide open. If the timing is right and ABC decides they want to go back, we’ll have to see if Jorge Garcia, Michael Emerson, Evangeline Lilly, and Josh Holloway will hop on a flight to Hawaii. Let’s just hope it’s not 815.

At a recent Walker Stalker Convention in Atlanta, Emerson said he believed there was plenty of story left to tell involving his and Garcia’s character after choosing to remain on the island before the show concluded.

LOST ran for six years on ABC, telling the story of survivors of a bizarre plane crash in the south pacific ocean. Its novelistic style of story telling paved the way for several popular dramas airing across cable today.
