The loss of Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher was tragic enough that a day after the announcement of her death, Fisher’s mother, iconic actress Debbie Reynolds, also passed away, after suffering a stroke.
With two onscreen legends from the same family now gone, family members are trying to navigate their grief, and handle the particulars of the grieving process, such as arrangements for the funeral.

According to a report, some members of Fisher and Reynolds’ family are proposing a joint funeral for mother and daughter. Specifically, as TMZ reports:
“Close family members are meeting now to discuss funeral plans, and family sources tell us the sentiment is for a dual service… We’re told the family is leaning toward a private, small ceremony and a much larger second memorial service.”
For many fans of one or both actresses, this is a logical and poetic step to take. Mother and daughter shared a strong bond, and even Reynolds’ last words were about her late daughter. Few would object to having them laid to rest together, and poetic sentiment should be (tragically) clear to any and all.
It also feels right for the family to get a private ceremony, before they take the incredibly noble step of opening up their loss to a world of fans that are also wanting and waiting to grieve over both of these amazing women.
