Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The Twitter account for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has released a photo offering a first look at what Hogwarts looks like in stage play form. The photo comes as the very first public preview performance of the play, which is officially the eighth story in the Harry Potter series, was beginning in London's West End Theater.

The photo shows banners representing the four houses of the famed wizarding school – Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. Students can also be seen on stage. In the spotlight at center stage is Rose Granger-Weasley, played by Cherrelle Skeete, the daughter of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Here's the official synopsis of the two-part play:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The photo was tweeted with the hashtag #KeepTheSecrets, which is meant to encourage fans lucky enough to attend a preview performance from spoiling the story for others. All fans will have the opportunity to experience the story for themselves when the special rehearsal edition script book of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is released on July 31, just before the play officially opens.
