Over the last few days, a Facebook photo has gained steam, being shared tens of thousands of times (at least), seen and shared hundreds of thousands more on Imgur and other social media and fan sites. The image depicts 17-year-old Ciara Provencio, a high school student from Tennessee who wants to be a zombie extra on AMC's The Walking Dead. "Hi, my name is Ciara!" The sign says in the image at right. "I'm 17 years old and I was born with a tessier cleft, and amniotic band syndropme, and my one dream is to be a ZOMBIE on AMC's The Walking Dead and to be shot in the head by Norman Reedus..." She goes on to ask supporters to share the image to call attention to her quest. "They have hundreds of zombies out there, I don't care if I'm in the back row," Provencio told Daily Dot. "I've loved Norman Reedus since the Boondock Saints. As soon as I found out that he was on The Walking DeadI was like, 'I need to watch it.'" She added that even if she doesn't succeed in being cast, she'll conisider it a win generating more awareness of her medical condition. "I can't get rid of this. I can't help this," Provencio said. "I want to get our names out there. We are strong people."
