Star Wars: [SPOILER] Returning for 'Episode IX'

In less than a month, fans will witness the events of The Last Jedi and discover the fates of beloved characters both new and old. During a recent interview, one actor from the film hinted at their return to the series with Episode IX, confirming they survive the events of the next installment.

When speaking with Esquire, Oscar Isaac claimed that, in the upcoming film, he's given "not that much more, but a little more to do" and that he starts shooting Episode IX next year. Considering Poe Dameron hasn't been painted as one of the integral components of the franchise, we wouldn't have been shocked were he to have been killed in the upcoming The Last Jedi, and now we know he'll survive the ordeal.

With The Force Awakens seeing the demise of Han Solo, many audiences have assumed that Dameron would fill the void of a top-notch pilot with lots of swagger, but Isaac assured audiences he won't be taking on that persona.

"Well, there could be, but I think what [The Last Jedi writer/director] Rian [Johnson] did was make it less about filling a slot and more about what the story needs," Isaac told Esquire about the risk of Dameron becoming a surrogate Solo. "The fact is now that the Resistance has been whittled to just a handful of people, they're running for their lives, and Leia is grooming me — him — to be a leader of the Resistance, as opposed to a dashing, rogue hero."

Isaac isn't the only actor who inadvertently confirmed their involvement with Episode IX, as John Boyega also hinted at Finn surviving the events of The Last Jedi.

"I think what's fantastic is it feels like it's coming back full circle," Boyega told ComingSoon of J.J. Abrams returning to the saga. "I don't know nothing about the script, the story. I don't know where Finn's going, I don't know where Rey is going, but definitely I feel this is the war to end all wars in this movie."

Boyega might be returning to that galaxy far, far away, but he's still unsure of what that film means to his character.

"I'm interested to know how he will handle that," Boyega confessed. "I'm asking so many questions and I haven't had a chance to kinda sit down and write J.J. a message just to say congratulations and I'm stoked."

The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th.
