Khary Payton is yet to debut as Ezekiel on The Walking Dead with season seven of the AMC series not set to return until late in October but he is making sure to ingrain himself into The Walking Dead universe.

Payton’s Ezekiel is set hundreds of miles away from the Atlanta events seen in season one, however, it films just outside of the city in the same places. Payton took to Twitter today to show off a picture of himself in front of the iconic “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” doors seen by Rick Grimes after he woke up from his coma in the hospital.

These doors may not actually from the set of Season 1, though. In fact, it looks like the doors at The Walking Dead Museum in Senoia, Georgia, just a couple of blocks from where the Alexandria Safe-Zone is filmed. We had to clarify just so rumors didn’t start swirling about Season 7’s plot heading back to Atlanta, which will not be the case. Several Walking Dead cast members have been known to make their way around the town and meet fans and pick up some goods and food for themselves.

However, we do have reason to get excited based on Payton’s caption. “Chain comes off Oct. 23rd,” he writes. We’re definitely ready to see Ezekiel and his tiger Shiva unleashed on the undead.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season October 23 at 9 PM ET on AMC. For complete coverage, insider info, and more all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter and check out The Walking Dead on ComicBook.com on Facebook.
