At night, Efrain and Daniel take sanctuary in a small candlelit hideout. Efrain prepared food for him. Daniel takes a moment to show appreciation for the help, though he can't quite seem to understand it. To pay it back, he cuts Efrain's hair. "It had been a while since I had seen myself," Efrain said afterwards. Efrain now turns his attention to wondering when Daniel will run away. "I'm not a good man. I've done terrible things," Daniel tells him. "The time has come to pay my debts."
Daniel is carrying guilt of killing be. 96 to be specific. Efrain insists this is not what is weighing on him. Daniel recalls leaving El Salvador with his wife and daughter, heading to Los Angeles. He regrets lying to his daughter but Efrain insists it was the best thing to do. Daniel admits he is looking for her. "I woke up in a fire," Daniel said, which is where he heard Ofelia calling for him. "The ceiling was collapsing. I fought, I fought, and I got out. I don't know how but I got out." When he woke up, everyone was dead and burned.
Efrain questions what he is saying. Daniel says he doesn't know if he burned his daughter alive and begs forgiveness from Efrain. He has good news and bad news. Good: no one is left to judge him. Just as he is about to say the bad news, he falls asleep. Daniel covers him with a blanket and leaves on the rainy night.
In the midst of a thunder storm, walkers approach. Daniel dispatches the first but then a larger, more intimidating walker approaches. Elsewhere, two men are chatting. They flip a coin to decide who has to move bodies. The younger man tries to move one but it's stuck. The other comes to help. They discover the huge walker which was struck by lightning just before Daniel pops out and terrifies them.
Moments later, Daniel is tied to a chair. Lola, the doctor who helped his leg, enters the room and elects to look after him.
Later, Lola drives Daniel across a dam. She explains the dam was taken by Dante after Tijuana fell and he is now her boss. Lola tells him they have to cover up their meeting, saying this is the first time they have met. Lola insists Daniel will be a new janitor.
Back near the drainage area, Daniel assists in moving the bodies, which the other men have accepted as the only option.
Later, Daniel sits and eats. Dante enters the room and everyone stands for him, except Daniel, which others call crazy. One man approaches him and asks why he didn't stand. He insists Daniel stand for the boss and look at him when he speak. The man sticks a finger in Daniel's food, prompting Daniel to stab him with a fork. Dante breaks up the fight and asks Daniel his name and where he is from. "Sergeant Salazar? NCO Salazar? Liuetenant Salazar?" Dante asks. He pulls Daniel's lower lip down to reveal a tattoo indicating "Sobre Negra." He tells his enforcer he was picking a fight with a killer. Dante ultimately invites Daniel to a better lunch. Lola watches, shocked.
Dante escorts Daniel to his office and asks what he wants or needs. Daniel wants a jeep to look for someone. Dante will fulfill the wish but implores Daniel to stay here, promising to take care of him.
Outside the dam, Daniel is escorted around the community. Armed men tell him someone is robbing them. Daniel sees people nearby as the truck plows through a door and into a seemingly abandoned mall. It's where Daniel got his water from Efrain. The man search the place, guns drawn. The leader elects there is nothing here. Daniel looks at a clock as the men walk away. Water starts to drip from the fountain, leaving Daniel torn on what to do. The "agua, agua" alarm starts to play. Daniel leads the men to it.
Later, Lola is appaulled by his decision. She is infuriated. Daniel insists they are going to find Efrain and Lola and kill them. She has been running water to them from the dam. He insists when they find her, though, there will be nothing they can do. Lola is disappointed, saying this place is perfect for him.
Later Daniel is armed and watching the door. He sees Victor Strand getting tackled at the gate, watching with a smirk, and seeing Dante approach. He goes on to give Strand water.
Strand is shocked to see Daniel. Daniel goes straight to asking about Ofelia. He tells Daniel she is alive and holed up in a hotel down the coast. It's a day away. "She's waiting for you," Strand lies. Daniel doesn't believe him. "You'd say anything to save your life," Daniel said. "This place is perfect for you. You will rot here, like the dead."
"Ofelia is dead. Her father is dead. And so are you."
Daniel abandons Strand and walks away.
Later, Daniel finds Dante beating Efrain and is invited to do the same.

Dante questions who is helping Efrain. He offers Daniel weapons to torture Efrain with. He only asks for space.
Daniel tells Efrain, "If you talk, they'll kill you. Then they'll kill her. If you don't talk, they'll only kill you. Daniel offers to kill Efrain as fast as he can and asks for forgiveness. Daniel looks back to Dante before throwing punches at Efrain.
A beaten Efrain is begged to confess. "I don't have anything to confess," Efrain said. Dante orders Daniel to continue. He grabs a hammer for his next act. He is hesitant but raises the hammer to strike him. Lola rushes to his aid, shoving Daniel out of the way and revealing her connection to Dante. Lola, Efrain, and others are escorted to the top of the damn, where they are becoming a lesson in what happens when you steal from Dante.
The first man pleads with Dante. He is then tossed from the dam by Dante who quickly says, "Next." It's Lola's turn. Daniel escorts her to the edge where Dante orders him to toss her. When he doesn't the muscle steps in. Daniel steals his gun and shoots him, quickly tossing him over the edge. He then shoot another guard and another before Dante. He then frees Lola from her ties and hands her the gun. He kneels before her, asking forgiveness, and she extends her hand to help him up.
