While most great TV shows are allowed to get through a few seasons before getting nailed with the cancellation axe, a few quality programs have managed to exit early. Shows like Firefly, Arrested Development, and Freaks and Geeks often come to mind.

HBO has become a television powerhouse, but they aren’t perfect. On two separate occasions, the network has cancelled a quality series, and fans have fallen deeper in love with said series as time has gone on. Of course, these shows are Carnivale, and Deadwood.
Fans of Carnivale called for more episodes, but the chatter died off fairly quickly. However, the cries for more of Deadwood have continued to ring, even though the series ended over a decade ago. Ever since the finale, there have been talks of a revival, a new season, or some kind of movie.
The latter conversation has picked up lately, and it looks like a Deadwood movie could really be on the way.
During a press tour for his new series American Gods, Deadwood star Ian McShane revealed that there is already a full script in place for a revival film.
McShane told TVLine that a “two-hour movie script has been delivered to HBO,” written by Deadwood creator David Milch. The actor then added, “If they don’t deliver, blame them.”
So, it looks like the writer and cast are on board. If HBO gives it the go-head, there could be a Deadwood movie on the way before too long.

American Gods posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New.The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods.
