The CW has released a new promo for "Chapter Twenty-Five: The Wicked and The Divine," next week's episode of Riverdale.

The episode will see tensions rise in Riverdale for nearly all of its residents in the fallout from the events during and after the town's celebration of Colonel Pickens as well as see Archie getting acclimated to his role as Hiram's "intern," the return of Dark Betty, and the surprising return of Penny Peabody. You can check out the promo in the video above.

As you may recall, Penny has been a thorn in Jughead's side all season after he reached out to the so-called "Snake Charmer" go seek help for his then-incarcerated father F.P. Jones. But Penny's help came with a price and Jughead soon found himself doing favors for Penny -- specifically moving drugs for her. When F.P. tried to step in and take over the favor for Jughead, the newly-minted Serpent decided to simply deal with Penny himself, but kidnapping her, taking her to Greendale, and cutting off her Serpent tattoo.

But now, from the looks of things in the promo, Penny is back and it's not likely that she's around for social reasons. According to the official synopsis for the episode, Jughead and his father end up leading the charge after the incident at Pickens Park leads to increased tensions with the Serpents. Could Penny be showing up to capitalize on these tensions? And what about everyone else in Riverdale? You can check out the official synopsis for the episode below.

FORGIVE ME FATHER FOR I HAVE SINNED – As preparations for her confirmation ceremony get underway, Veronica (Camila Mendes) becomes concerned that Archie (KJ Apa), who's agreed to be Hiram's (Mark Consuelos) "intern," may be learning too much about her family's secret business dealings.

Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and FP (Skeet Ulrich) lead the charge after an incident at Pickens Park leads to increased tensions among the Serpents.

Meanwhile, Chic (guest star Hart Denton) helps Betty (Lili Reinhart) deal with her inner darkness, while Archie finds himself in over his head after a high-stakes poker game with Hiram's shady inner-circle goes awry.

Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, Ashleigh Murray and Casey Cott also star. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Riverdale airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. "The Wicked and the Divine" premieres on January 31.
