The episode begins in Nebraska as a psychic closes her shop. The girl looks over when he door opens, and she tells the man she is closing up. She invites the man anyways since he looks like there is something on his mind. He says there is, and they begin to do tarot cards. The girl says she is a psychic counselor who reads auras, but the guy is rather freaky. She stabs the girl in the hand when the guy reveals he is a supernatural being. The man then stabs an appendage into the girl’s neck, seemingly feeding off her.

With the Winchester brothers, Dean is drinking and listening to music. Jack is in a room and lets Sam in when the older man knocks. Sam has brought the boy a laptop with a pre-recorded message from his mother Kelly. Sam has to set up the device, and Jack thanks his keeper before Sam listens in. Jack sees his mother and looks very overwhelmed and upset. Kelly says she has always wanted to be a mom. Sam gets a call, and it is from Missouri. The psychi says she needs some help because she has found the girl who was murdered.
Kelly tells Jack to not let anyone tell him who he is. Jack is who he will choose to be, and Kelly says her son is going to be okay. The woman says Jack has an angel watching over him.
Dean walks into Sam after the call. The former is surprised to hear about Missouri, and Sam sent Jody to work their case. Sam wants them to stay here to watch Jack, and Dean gets mad because it puts her in unnecessary danger. The two continue to fight over how they should raise Jack, and Dean says he is going to take the case.
Jody is in Nebraska with Missouri. The girl who was killed was the psychic’s protege, and Dean shows up to help out. Missouri says she is sorry for Dean’s losses, and the Winchester is taken back by being read. The three enter the shop, and Missouri believe the culprit was a wraith. Missouri reads the door’s handle to see the perpetrator. She relives the attack and confirms he is a wraith who has picked up a taste for psychics. Missouri sees a vision of the being’s next victims, but Dean is also there.
Back with Sam and Jack, the Winchester says Jack needs to learn how to control and focus his powers. Sam tries to make the boy move the pencil with his mind. The boy tries to no avail.
With Missouri, the psychic calls James. She tells him she has a vision, but he doesn’t believe her. James is the woman’s son, but he will not have anything to do with her. Dean tells Missouri he does not like the idea, but she makes him go. She thanks him.
Jack comes back and says he cannot move the pencil. He thinks he is useless, and Sam tries to figure out when he can use his gifts. Jack said he used them before and it felt very natural; It just happened. Asmodeus made him use his gifts, and Jack gets frustrated with Sam. The boy does not feel like he can do it, and Sam tells the two to take a break. Jack is surprised, but he stays behind while Sam goes to get food. Jack stares at the pencil.
Back at the psychic shop, the wraith returns. Missouri is at the shop, but she knows who he is. The wraith is surprised, but Missouri isn’t going down without a fight. She already knows what happens. She is going to die no matter what she does, but Missouri refuses to scream. The wraith attacks her.
Part 1
The show picks up at a gym. Two high school students are seen talking, and one is the grandchild os Missouri. The girl is seen opening up her locker, and fans find out she is a good volleyball player. She seems to tap into her psychic gifts by knowing when the ball is coming. The girls separate, and Missouri’s daughter is left in a hallway as the lights start to flicker. When she walks forward, she sees flood on the ground leading to Missouri’s dead body. The older lady says “patience” before Dean apparently grabs her from behind. The girl wakes up.
The girl walks into her dad and tells him that she had a dream; he says to not worry about it. Dean is at a gas station and learns about the death of Missouri. Dean and Jody move forward to save the woman’s family; They are reeling from her death. In Georgia, Dean and Jody tell the man his mother died last night because of a wraith. He seems taken aback. Jody tells the man the wraith is after him and his daughter – and he seems to believe the story now.
Back at the school, Patience begins to live her dream. She freaks out when she hears a noise in the hallway, but she walks down it anyways. There is no body where Missouri was in her dream, and she is not attacked from behind. However, when she is at her locker, the wraith is there.
Part 2
At the high school, the wraith pins Patience against the lockers. The two fight and she rips off the step that feeds off his victims. He pins her to the floor, but Dean shoots the wraith in the back. Jody runs to the girl while Dean chases. The wraith traps them in the hallway, but Dean runs to catch the wraith outside. The being nearly runs the hunter over, but Dean survives. The pair talk with the girl, and Patience learns her grandmother is dead. The girl though her grandmother walked out on her after her mother passed.
Back with Sam, the boy is watching Jack on a computer screen. However, he freaks out when the boy goes off the screen. He moved the pencil by moving himself. Jack says this exercise is the opposite of fun, but they cannot figure out why Jack cannot use his powers. Jack says it would make sense to use his powers if he was evil, but Sam pushes back on that. Sam does not see him as evil, and Jack points to Dean. The boy admits Dean said he’d kill him, but Jack is upset. His mom said Jack could be good, but the boy blames himself for her death. Jack says he can’t do the one good, stupid thing Sam wants him to do, and the nephilim thinks that means he is evil like Lucifer.
Sam stoops down and says Asmodeus is tricking him. Dean is wrong. Sam says none of it is Jack’s fault. The brother notes Jack is probably scared to use his power and that the pressure is not helping. Jack is surprised by how kind the Winchester is, and Sam tells the boy they can stop on the lessons. Jack asks why Sam is being nice, and the elder says he know what it is like to be scared and not fit in. Sam says his family helped him through that, so the Winchester wants to help Jack. Sam tells the boy he is not evil.
Back with Dean and Jody, the pair argue over Missouri being a fake or not. The woman’s son turned on her after his wife died and Missouri said she’d be okay. Patience is very upset with her dad, but he tries to defend himself. He didn’t want his daughter to have that life. The girl reveals she is psychic, so he dad says they need to run. Patience flees to her room, and she picks up a broach from her desk. She flashes back to her mother’s funeral. The girl watches James tells Missouri to tell Patience goodbye. Missouri gives the girl a broach, and she tells her granddaughter she will always be there for her.
As Patience starts to pack, she opens her closet to find the wraith there. The being steals her before Dean, James, and Jody can arrive.
Part 3
Dean starts to look over traffic cameras as Jody gets off the phone with the sheriff. James goes to his desk to get our a chest. He unlocks it, and there is a photo of Missouri. He gets out some stones and a map. James says the stones were given to him by Missouri as tools.
With Patience, the girl wakes up tied to a chair. She is approached by the wraith. He says he likes to feed on psychics because things become clearer, and Missouri was the best meal he ever had. The wraith thinks Patience will taste the same since she is young and healthy. He wants to feed on Patience for as long as possible. Patience says she is not psychic, but the wraith knows she is. He goes to take a bite, but Dean and Jody come in with James.
Dean hunters for the wraith. The being stabs James before making Jody stab herself in the gut. Patience looks stunned, and Dean goes to fight back. The brother starts to fight with the wraith and appears to pass out. However, fans learn that it was just a vision. When the trio come in for real, she is about to help them fight back and not get killed. The fights play out with no one dying, but the wraith does give the hunters a hard time. Dean manages to stab the wraith and head back to Patience and his friends. The girl says her psychic gifts is what saved him.
Part 4
Dean and Jody are seen leaning against the Impala. The two are approached by Patience, and Dean says the girl did good. Patience says she doesn’t know what is next aside from school. The girl talked to her dad about her gift to be normal, and Patience isn’t sure what to do. Dean says James is right; Hunting is the most difficult thing. It is nothing but pain, horror, and death. He says she should go with normal.
Patience looks conflicted, but Jody reaches out to her. The woman says Patience doesn’t have to listen with either of them. Jody brings up her daughter, and she says Patience’s gift is just herself. If she tries to force it down, it will make her miserable. Jody says Patience can come to her at anytime before she leaves, and Patience is left with a business card.
When Dean returns to Sam, the pair talk. Sam gets angry about Dean calling Jack dark-side. Jack is messed up because of Dean. Sam confronts Jack about killing the kid, and Dean says he just told him the truth. Jack is listening in, and Sam says he didn’t end up bad. Dean says it was totally different. Dean says Jack doesn’t deserve to be saved, but Jack looks upset. Dean says he cannot forgive Jack for influencing Castiel to be killed. Jack freaks out and uses his power. Castiel then appears in a black room, and he appears to be alive. The angel gets up and does not know where he is.
