Earlier today, Comicbook.com reported that Amazon.com had listed the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray and DVD for pre-order with a release date of Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Now, director James Gunn has officially confirmed that December 9 is indeed the correct release date for the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray and DVD.

Furthermore, Gunn has also confirmed at least one of the extras that will be included on the Blu-ray release. Gunn wrote, "There are lots of extra features that will be announced soon, but one of them is commentary by me."

On Blu-ray releases, a director's commentary is an audio commentary of the director discussing the movie, while the video of the movie plays in real time. If you've ever listened to Gunn give an interview or kept up with some of his social media postings, then you probably know that Gunn has a pretty keen sense of humor, so his commentary alone should make it more than worth it to get the Blu-ray version.

Of course, the director's commentary won't be the only extra, as Gunn and some of the cast members have also talked about deleted scenes from the film in the past that should make their way onto the Blu-ray.
