Simon Kinberg Talks Fantastic Four Footage

There’s been a lot of speculation and early talk about the upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four film franchise. The actors involved have made a series of statements that have fans…we’ll say “intrigued” by the direction they’re taking, and there’s no doubt that fans would like to actually see what this new direction looks like.

In an interview related to the X-Men: Days of Future Past Bluray/DVD release, ComicBook.com spoke to writer/producer Simon Kinberg and asked if he knew when fans could expect to see the first footage from the new Fantastic Four film.

“I don’t, actually,” Kinberg says. “We’re putting it together now, and one of the important things, because this Fantastic Four is a reboot, and is such a different tonality and vibe from those other films, we want to make sure that the first thing we put out really expresses the voice of the movie, and isn’t compromised by not having visual effects ready, or anything like that."

“I don’t actually know when it’s coming out, but I’ve seen all the footage from the movie. I was there for pretty much the whole shoot. It is a very different film from the others, and one that I think is very different from other superhero movies. It’s a very emotional, character-driven, more grounded film than I think people are anticipating.”

The Fantastic Four opens in theaters August 7, 2015.

I have very little hope that this is going to be any good. I see bubblegum and pop tunes in the near future. Marvel may have a hard time getting X-Men back from Fox, but when this one fails, it'll get the treatment it deserves back at Marvel.

  1. Agreed--this was doomed from the start!

There's a huge difference between a reboot and completely changing the characters' styles and story.

Geez do any of the cast or crew members know a damn thing about this movie? Everytime somebody involved with this movie talks about it they always say I don't know

I don't care how much praise this movie gets I will  never support it  think the cast is all wrong and not really impressed with the director's last film. Maybe in 15-20 years we will get a proper movie

  2. I'm starting to think Fox only started to pretend to be making this movie to get Marvel to pay more for the F4 rights. When Marvel called their bluff Fox was forced to go ahead with this, now Fox is just trying to make it seem as bad as possible in a last ditch effort to get Marvel to say "enough" amd make an offer.

That's why Fox hasn't shown footage, a poster, a logo or even set photos for this, they hope when Marvel buys the franchise they can pretend this didn't exist.

    I don't really think it's a conspiracy.
