Michelle MacLaren is the frontrunner to direct Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman, according to TheWrap and Latino Review.

MacLaren, best known for directing episodes of The Walking DeadBreaking Bad and Game of Thrones, also recently directed an episode of Better Call Saul for AMC. The site reports that the job is hers if she wants it, although formal negotiations may not yet have begun so that could change.

Both Warner Bros. and a representative for MacLaren declined comment for TheWrap's story. Warner, like most studios, typically does not comment on speculation of this sort.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," said Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyderwho will debut Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in that film before carrying her over to Justice League Part One right after Wonder Woman. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

MacLaren directed one of The Walking Dead's best-loved episodes, "Pretty Much Dead Already," one of the first episodes written by current showrunner Scott M. Gimple, as well as last year's season finale, "A."

Game of Thrones gave us Alan Taylor, who directed the mythology-driven superhero picture Thor: The Dark World. Breaking Bad turned out Star Wars Episode VIII director Rian Johnson.
