The Walking Dead: Robert Kirkman Says Daryl Dixon is Straight

After about a year of evasive and/or joking comments about Daryl Dixon's relationships and sexual orientation, The Walking Dead creator confirmed tonight on Talking Dead that Norman Reedus' character on the hit AMC zombie drama is, in fact, heterosexual.

"We play Daryl Dixon as being somewhat asexual on the show. He's a very introverted character and I think that's some of his appeal," Kirkman said. "I do have to clear something up, though: in the letter column of the comic book that I do, I mentioned that there was a possibility early on about making Daryl Dixon's character gay. It caused quite a hubbub online and I just wanted to clarify that the possibility is there and that I would have been fine with it, the network would have been fine with it, but we ultimately didn't do that. I can make it official: Daryl Dixon is straight."

He added that in the second half of the season, the show will be debuting a "very prominent gay character from the comics," likely Paul "Jesus" Monroe or Aaron.

Of course, with the death of Beth and the revelation that he's definitely straight, expect a solid wall of Daryl/Carol shippers making some noise online tonight...!

  1. Being that he said character and not characters, I'm leaning towards Jesus.

The only reason I was leaning toward Aaron is that wasn't he the one who recruited them?

  3. yeah, he was, with his boyfreind eric, and there is absoutly no reason at all to introduce jesus, and it woul dmake no sense, at this point.  like, 3 seasons later maybe, but this is WAYY too early

  4. Yeah still too early for Jesus. Abraham's character still has a long way to go and then, of course, there is Daryl. Show can only handle so many badasses at once! lol It's got to be Aaron. Everything is pointing to them going to Alexandria now. I can't wait to see who will be playing both characters though, Jesus and Aaron.
