When Constantine returns in January, the embattled NBC series based on the long-running Vertigo series Hellblazer will no longer air at 10 p.m. on Friday nights, moving back instead to 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The move was announced via Twitter.

Constantine, which failed to get a back nine order but is still reportedly a candidate for a second-season renewal at NBC, had been airing after episodes of Grimm, NBC's hit supernatural drama and seemingly a logical companion piece. The pair will stay together, but now it will be Constantine that will provide a lead-in for Grimm, which will remain in place at 9 p.m.

The season will resume on January 16, 2015, and while the 8 p.m. move is likely seen by the network as a much more prime location for a show whose ratings have been on the upswing but still never been quite where NBC wanted, some fans have already chimed in to worry that an earlier time will necessarily mean a toned-down series...just as the show was beginning to generate a lot of enthusiasm from a fan base who had worried about just that early on.
