Fox has just announced that a Gambit movie will be released on October 7, 2016. Channing Tatum has previously been tied to the role of Gambit, and the actor confirmed his role in the film via Twitter after Fox's announcement.

First debuting in Uncanny X-Men #266, Gambit was a professional thief when he first joined the group. His mutant ability allows him to mentally create and control pure kinetic energy. A kinetically charged cards which he hurls as explosive projectiles is often his weapon of choice.

Gambit previously appeared in the 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and was previously portrayed by actor Taylor Kitsch.

Previous reports have indicated that Robocop screenwriter Josh Zetumer will be writing the script for the Gambit spinoff film. The script will reportedly be based on a treatment by legendary X-Men comic book writer Chris Claremont, who created Gambit along with artist Jim Lee.

Tatum will reportedly co-produce with his partner at Free Association Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner, and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg.

  1. I don't care what people say about Channing Tatum. Whether he doesn't look like Gambit. Or he doesn't have the "chops" to pull off an accent. Or he is just a "meathead." Without Tatum there is no Gambit movie. He lobbied at Fox studios to get the role. He lobbied to get it to be a solo film. And most importantly he is using his own money to make the movie. So whether or not you like the guy or his acting. He is a box office draw. And most importantly his passion for the character and love of the character got this movie out. And as a life long Gambit fan. I am excited. Because never did I think I would ever see a Gambit film. Thank you Channing Tatum.

  2. Wooooow so am I the only seeing this ? Deadpool, Gambit, and apocalypse ? The same year !!!!!

  3. How do you say "A Gambit Spinoff is not needed" in Cajun?

  4. Gambit's first appearance was actually X-men Annual #14.... not Uncanny X-Men #266. ;-) Do the research.
