Marvel is giving two classic Star Wars series the Epic Collection treatment this year, with the release of Star Wars Epic Collection: The New Republic Vol.1 and Star Wars Epic Collection: The Old Republic Vol.1. Announced yesterday, the two tomes will reprint vast amounts of classic Star Wars material in oversized paperback collections.

First up is The New Republic Vol. 1., which takes place directly after the events of Return of the Jedi. With the Emperor dead, civilization works toward rebuilding a better and stronger republic. But evil still lurks on the horizon, when the Emperor's apprentice, Mara Jade, makes a bid for revenge, Meanwhile, the galaxy's criminal element clash over claiming Jaba the Hutt's empire, while a Bobba Fett Impersonator claims that he is the true bounty hunter. The paperback will collect STAR WARS: MARA JADE — BY THE EMPEROR'S HAND #0-6, STAR WARS: SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE — EVOLUTION #1-5, STAR WARS: THE JABBA TAPE, STAR WARS: BOBA FETT — TWIN ENGINES OF DESTRUCTION, and material from STAR WARS TALES #1, #3-5, #10, #14-15, #20 and #22.

The next Star Wars Epic Collection looks to the past with The Old Republic Vol.1, which collects the tales of the ancient Jedi knights of the Old Republic. The collection focuses on a young Jedi named Zayne Carrick, who faces murder charges after being framed for murdering a slew of Padawans. Looking to clear his name, Zayne will travel to the galaxy's farthest edges—along with his spirit's greatest limits—to find the real Padawan killer. The paperback will collect STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC #1-18 & MATERIAL FROM STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC/REBELLION #0.

The New Republic Epic Collection hits comic shops this May, while the Old Republic Collection arrives in July.
