Given the close bond forming between Howard Stark and Peggy Carter in Marvel's Agent Carter series, some have started wondering if Peggy ever met Howard's son, Tony Stark.

Seeing as how Peggy survived into her golden years in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, viewers know that Peggy could have  known the young Iron Man, creating a relationship that might be addressed in future Marvel films.

Captain America: Civil War's screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently addressed this possibility during the Television Critics Association Press tour this week. In a press a conference, IGN noted that the writers said Tony Stark might acknowledge Peggy in The Captain America threequel.

Here's what McFeely said about the possibility:

"As we have not started shooting, and I'm on my fourth draft of many, that question [of who Peggy was to Tony Stark] has been in and out all over the place so who knows. So many things can shake out but we've had conversations and we pitched scenes. Some stay and some don't. But we saw [Peggy] in Winter Soldier, so we know she's around".

The writers' conversation then shifted to Civil War's tone, which they said will be very similar to Winter Soldier's. With the Winter Soldier's co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo coming back to direct—and Markus and McFeely also returning from that film—Civil War will carry many of the modern aesthetics that characterized the second Captain America film.

Said McFeely:

"Every Captain America movie has a genre and Civil War is the musical! No, I think part of the reason for bringing back us and bringing back the [Russo] brothers is because Marvel is very pleased with Winter Soldier aesthetically. I think it's a really adult movie. It's very well made and that's partly the texture of the movie. You can argue it's the most realistic of the Marvel movies, whatever that is to you. I think it's fair to say that a Russo brothers movie will stay in that vein."

Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6th, 2016.
