X-Men: Apocalypse: Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Won't Be Back

Patrick Stewart was recently interviewed by Larry King. During their conversation, King asked Patrick Stewart if he'll appear in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. Stewart replied, "No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either."

We knew Singer was looking for younger actors to play Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey, because much of the film supposedly takes place in the 80s, but I doubt anyone figured Singer would exclude Stewart's Professor Xavier and McKellen's Magneto. The pair have appeared in every X-Men film 20th Century Fox has produced except for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.

"I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters," Stewart added. "And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance."

X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters May 27, 2016

  1. Wait, but, this takes place in the 80's, which would indicate that James McAvoy and Micheal Fassbender would be Professor X and Magneto respectively? Especially since they said that Apocalypse would involve the Professor X-Magneto-Mystique love triangle, which would be more weird than annoying if it was two 75 year old men and the 24-year-old Jeniffer Lawrence involved. I'm not surprised. Although it would've been cool to see a more traditional X-Men team lead by the Charles Xavier.

  2. Oh were the better half alright....go shave your queen.

  3. We may not be the better half...but neither are you apparently...take chill pill. Anonymous9894...you are an idiot. Dont claim to be better than anyone when you cant even put together a sentence. We're. Not were.

Well, this sucks,I like both actors.Hopefully Stewart and McKellan will work together in some other movie project.

  4. At least they're (hopefully) putting story first rather than trying to re-hash DOFP. This movie should lead into the original actor's start point more or less right? So if they decide on another X-Men movie either in present day or with time travel elements again we should see these two come back again.
