Schmoes Know has dropped another scoop today. This time, their sources have revealed who the mystery female superhero will be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. As you can read in the headline they believe it will be Mantis.

Last year, Joss Whedon said there would be four prominent female roles in the Avengers sequel. One would have to be Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), another would be Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and the other two are still up for debate. Rumors have persisted that Captain Marvel would cameo in the film, but perhaps Whedon had a change of heart and chose Mantis instead. Why, Mantis?

Their source explained:

This would seem to make a lot of sense as she 1) has direct ties to Thanos, 2) has even stronger ties to Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, 3) has a personal vendetta in the comics against Klaw and, most importantly 4) has been a prominent member of both The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

This rumor and their Ulysses Klaw scoop from earlier are discussed in the latest Meet The Movie Press video, which you can watch below.

Mantis first appeared in Avengers #112 (June 1973), and was created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Don Heck. Mantis was born in Vietnam and her parents were forced to go on the run with her because their union wasn't approved by her mother's crimelord family. Her mom eventually was killed in and her dad was blinded. Papa bear took his infant daughter the Temple of the alien Priests of Pama. This is a branch of pacifict Kree who are caretakers for Cotati, a telepathic race of sentient plants. These Kree think that the infant child is Celestial Madonna, who will one day give birth to the Celestial Messiah, "the most important being in the universe." From then on they raise and train her. Long story short, when she becomes 18 they wipe her memories and send her off into the world to receive a crash course in life.
