Elizabeth Olsen On Scarlet Witch's Powers & Backstory In Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Most of Avengers: Age Of Ultron cast had to go through some grueling fight training, except for Scarlett Johansson, James Spader and Elizabeth Olsen. To be fair, Scarlett, who was pregnant during filming, probably endured some grueling moments during lamaze class. In Olsen's case, director Joss Whedon wanted Scarlet Witch to move like a dancer and less like a brawler. "The coolest thing about Scarlet Witch is, because you've never seen her, we got to create how she moves," Olsen told Empire Magazine in their latest issue. "Joss was really inspired by dancers, and so he knew that he wanted to change visually how she moves, to be more like a dancer than a fighter. I didn't really have to do much stunt training. Instead I trained with a dancer, Jenny White, which was its own kind of soreness, but it wasn't what I thought it would be."

When we meet Scarlet Witch in The Avengers sequel she hasn't fully figured out her powers yet. We will get to discover many of her abilities at the same time she does. "Age of Ultron is almost our origin story, so we don't have one of those montages where heroes learn all of their powers in five minutes," Olsen said. "We are still discovering the things we can and cannot do. The extent of her powers isn't fully explored in Ultron. But she can manipulate objects. And she has visions, and she has the ability to share them."

In the trailers we've seen Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver fighting alongside Ultron, but why? "Obviously there are plenty of countries in the world that hate America, for whatever history and pain they believe it has caused their own country and their own lives," Olsen explained. "That is the world we have created for Wanda and Pietro, to have been brought up in. What you're told a lot of times growng up is that that, country, those people, their way of living is the reason why we have been bombed. [The Avengers] are the worst evil in Wanda and Pietro's mind, not this guy who hasn't done anything yet."

In the comics, Scarlet Witch fell in love with Vision and married him. She have his kids. Even though, Vision is an android she used her magic to put twins in her baby-making oven. Will we see Olsen and Paul Bettany ogling each other in the film? Olsen chuckles, "I don't know what you're talking about..."

  1. Why does nobody point out the gross misspellings/wrong words? It may only be once an article, but could you mofos have someone else proofread yo shite!? And stop posting all the hearsay? Ya this story is from the horses mouth but 90% of thus posted is rehashed shit and theories. Publish real news or don't post (this is a great article!)

The current comic stream is manipulating the history of the twins. It is my greatest hope that both movie and comic industries remember the importance of compromise and working together in order to preserve the potential of the ties that bind X-Men, Avengers, FF, and the Inhumans. What  a wonderful thing to see the powerful love story between Vision and Wanda where mutant father ("Magneto") disapproves of the non-human, non-mutant Husband and eventual Father to two very powerful children in their own right; a future story that I would love to see both cinematically and preserved in the comics. Furthermore, Pietro and Crystal and their "non-mutant" daughter and how Magneto handles this can only make for a greater plot line in terms of family and how those who make great mistakes in their past can change for the better. Don't forget the past in order to become blockbuster. The profits will come when past, present and future remain viable and preserved.

Yeah, but an important thing to remember is that Magneto being their dad was itself a retcon.
