Spider-Man To Appear In Captain America: Civil War; Sinister Six Delayed

As you know by now, Marvel and Sony have struck an agreement that will bring Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic universe. Many details were left out of the announcement, but more information is spilling out here and there.

The announcement states, "The new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe," but it doesn't say which film. This is where The Wall Street Journal has stepped in with a new report confirming a Spidey appearance in Captain America 3:

The two companies said late Monday that Spider-Man will appear in an upcoming Disney-produced Marvel super-heroes movie; that movie is 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

We also know that the next solo Spider-Man film, which is being co-produced by Marvel and Sony Pictures, will arrive in 2017. The Wall Street Journal also claims that Andrew Garfield is out, as there will be "a new version of the web-slinger."

And what does this new deal mean for The Sinister Six movie Drew Goddard ("Cabin In The Woods") has been working on for over a year?

Sony will delay its planned release of “The Sinister Six,” about a group of Spider-Man villains, in wake of the new deal said a person involved in movie. It had been scheduled for release in November of 2016. - WSJ

Do you think they should scrap Sinister Six or rework it so it fits with Marvel's new Spidey?

...that doesn't sound overly reliable, even if it's a fair guess.

Yea this person seems very elementry in her "article". Also, The Sinister Six is completely out of the question now if the knew anything about what is actually going on in the agreement with Marvel. The only things that stand now are: 1.Spidey will Join the MCU. 2. Spidey will most likely Join Civil War in 2016 with a stand alone being in 2017. EVERYTHING IS IS NOW UP IN THE AIR. This probably sounds bad but ten bucks says the writer is a 25+ female who would woot for something she has no idea why everything else is hooting at. #truth

and how would you know the author of the article is a "female"? sheesh get off your high horse. They can still rework The Sinister Six to fit in with the MCU..I feel bad for Garfield since he got shafted..he both made a good Peter/Spider-Man..i think most of the problem was Sony (probably hearsay and it's my own idea as i see it) interfering with the movie to fit it in with the "grand vision" that they had for the property. As it is it fell flat on their faces and now they are trying to pick up the pieces bit by bit. At least Feige will have some input when it comes to Spidey. Hopefully the origin will be just a short flashback sequence or a monologue ala The Incredible Hulk. I guess in some way this deal is a win-win for both company.

The Sinister Six is a stupid idea, period! It was even before the deal was struck between Marvel and Sony. @afool Andrew Garfield didn't get shafted, he bailed because the last 2 Spiderman movies were garbage. So garbage that they lost their director for the third film as well. Spiderman is an important piece when it comes to the Civil War story, so if Captain 3 really will feature the web slinger, that's great news. If only Fox would let go of Wolverine SMH. I'm happy Marvel and Sony struck a deal but I will never be truly at peace until Fox and Sony let Spiderman and the X-Men go back to their rightful home at Marvel/Diseny.
