Marvel Studios has reportedly cast the role of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers for the upcoming Captain Marvel film.

As rumors online are suggesting, the new Captain Marvel would make her official Marvel Cinematic Universe debut sometime during the events of this spring's Avengers: Age of Ultron. This latest round of reports builds upon older rumors, which also claimed that an un-powered Carol Danvers was written in the back-end of Age of Ultron's screenplay.

What's more, Disney's official store is also including Captain Marvel in their latest Avengers: Age of Ultron action figure bundle pack. It's a a log shot for sure, but it at least shows that Marvel Studios and Disney are already trying to build an association between Captain Marvel and the rest of the Avengers for the general public.

As for Carol's first flight as the Captain, the Latino Review posits that Marvel Studios have the film's basic plot worked out, but are still searching for the right screenwriter to flesh out an actual script. The website notes that current Captain Marvel comics writer, Kelly Sue DeConnick, expressed interest in writing a draft, though they do not know if Marvel gave her the chance. On firmer ground is the report that Jim Starlin, classic  Captain Marvel helmer, is onboard the film as a creative consultant.

Starlin's rumored involvement is a good sign, showing that Marvel Studios is staying committed to using the brains from their publishing branch for insight. Marvel has done this often in the past, with writers like Brian Michael offering creative advice for the Iron Man films.

What do you think, Carol Corps.? Is there a writer or Captain Marvel consultant you'd like to see on the project? Let us know!

Captain Marvel takes off on July 6, 2018.
