ABC Looking To Bring Back The Muppet Show

Album.muppetshowlp

It's time again to play the music and light the lights, as ABC Television is reviving The Muppet Show for a modern day audience.

With The Big Bang Theory’s Bill Prady co-writing a script for a pilot presentation, the series will be presented before advertisers this May. If executives like what they see, the Muppets reboot could then be fastracked with a straight-to-series order.  3rd Rock From the Sun’s Bob Kushell will also co-write the presentation, and Randall Einhorn will produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the concept would showcase the regular Muppets cast gathering outside of ABC Studios looking to start a series revival, but must convince Miss Piggy to come on-board before doing so.

Created by Jim Henson in 1955, The Muppets include iconic pop culture characters Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and more. The franchise was eventually bought by Disney, who also owns ABC, and expanded into animation, feature films, and more.

The Muppets last appeared in the 2014 film, Muppets Most Wanted

    Hell yea

    Ugh, Big Bang Theory?

  1. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I would watch every week.  We already watch The Tonight Show with our daughter on a regular basis (on Hulu since it's on late through the week).  We also enjoy shows like Mythbusters that all ages can enjoy.  The return of The Muppet Show is something that I have talked about for YEARS.  There are so many great guests that would really enjoy being on the show.  Think of all the comedians and musicians that could be on as guest stars!  And I think even TV shows that are on during "family friendly" hours are not so family friendly these days.  I would really love something goofy and fun that we could all watch together each week.

    Couple of guest ideas:

    Jason Mraz

    Tina Fey

    Amy Poehler

    Kristen Wiig

    Louis C.K. with Fozzy Bear

Eddie Izzard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (with Gonzo and his chickens)Jimmy Fallon sings with KermitDwayne "The Rock" Johnson (dancing with Miss Piggy)

Beyonce and Miss Piggy's fashion show - come on, you know that would be funny and cuteBRUNO MARS AND THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM BAND!!!!!!!!!!

Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson playing Duke Silver playing sax and sitting in with the Electric Mayhem Band and doing a duet with Zoot, the sax player in the band.

The executives should really try to bring Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh into this project, since they're already in the Disney TV pipeline and have been doing absurdist humor and musical comedy for years.

  2. Today has officially been one of the best days of my life. The Muppets are one of my favorite things about life. Jim Henson and his entire Muppet company have brought so much joy, education and laughter to the world. This has got to be Disney's single greatest resolution... Finally they are doing something right with the adorable, loveable Muppets they acquired. To happy for more words!!!
