Paramount Pictures has greenlit a sequel to last year's Need For Speed movie.

Need For Speed 2 is expected to be co-produced by Electronic Arts (the developer of the Need For Speed video game franchise) and Paramount, but fellow studio Dreamworks must first relinquish their rights to the franchise.

Much of the film is expected to film in China, and will feature a number of the country's domestic actors. No word has been given if Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, who held the lead in the first Need For Speed, will return.

While Need For Speed didn't do gangbusters in the United States box office, it performed extremely well in China, earning about $65 million.

"We are excited to work with EA, one of the world's most recognized creative companies," Yin Cao, chairman of China Movie Channel, told Variety. "We are also delighted that much of 'Need for Speed 2′ would be filmed in China, and we believe it will include much more Chinese talent and elements."

Stay tuned for more updates on Need For Speed 2 as they break.
