Furious 7 director James Wan is reportedly being looked at to direct Warner Bros.' Aquaman movie.

The report from THR suggests that the only preliminary talks have occurred so far, and that an offer hasn't yet been made, but that Wan is the studios' first choice for the film.

Jason Mamoa will star as the King of Atlantis in Aquaman, but will make his debut in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and also appear in both parts of the Justice League movie.

ComicBook.com asked Wan about rumors he was involved with a DC Entertainment film, but he avoided the question, saying "There's lots of talks about lots of things so who know what is true."

Wan will likely be torn between directing Aquaman, and returning for the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, which still does not have a director. Considering how well Furious 7 is doing at the box office, Wan may be a talent Universal wants to keep hold of, and they have the option in his contract to do so. There may also be scheduling conflicts with Wan's The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.

Aquaman is scheduled to hit theaters July 27, 2018.
