Franz Drameh, recognizable to American audiences for his role in Edge of Tomorrow, as joined the cast of the as-yet-untitled Arrow/The Flash sipnoff on The CW.

Drameh will play a character named Jay Jackson, a former high school athlete, whose pro-career was derailed by injury. Now making ends meets as an auto mechanic, Jay will come to have a surprising affiliation to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew.

That last bit is interesting, seemingly implying that the spinoff will take place in the same universe and time period as The Flash and Arrow...and that Caitlin, Cisco and company will likely have some role to play on the show.

That should come as welcome news to Danielle Panabaker, who told us earlier this week that she hoped to appear on the spinoff, but hadn't had that conversation with producers yet.

"Truthfully, it actually hasn't been discussed, the opportunity to cross over to their potentially new spinoff show, but I would love it if I had the opportunity to," Panabaker told ComicBook.com. "Several of those characters, I know from having Wentworth's character originate on The Flash or from having Brandon's character come over on last week's episode of The Flash. I adore all of those actors and would love the opportunity to go and sort of play with them, but again, it hasn't been discussed yet."

While not specifically stated, it seems likely that Drameh will take the final lead role which was being cast, known as the "mystery hero." The character was supposed to be a young black man who got super powers in an accident and was the self-aware, snarky voice on the show.

On the face of it, the role sounds like one created for the TV series, although it's worth mentioning that "Harrison Wells" wasn't a recognizable name, either, until his surprising relationship with the S.T.A.R. Labs crew was revealed.
