Based on Alias

The character of Jessica Jones was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. The series will be loosely based on her debut comic book series Alias. The comic is receiving a trade paperback reprint ahead of the TV series' release.

No A.K.A.

The series was originally titled Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, presumably as a way of acknowledging the comic series' title without encroaching on the legal territory of J.J. Abrams' Alias TV series the early 2000s. The "A.K.A." has since been removed, making the title Marvel's Jessica Jones.
