Tarsem Singh has surely directed a movie you've enjoyed, be it 2006's The Fall, 2011's The Immortals, or 2012's Mirror Mirror. His resume goes on and will expand this July when Self/less hits theaters.

Singh had the opportunity to direct a pair of comic book movie veterans in Ben Kingsley and Ryan Reynolds during the production of Self/less. We had the chance to talk with Singh recently and during an exclusive interview, asked him if he was a comic book fan himself. "Not the biggest," he said, adding "For me, I just like certain comic book films. I just couldn't stand any of the X-Men and the last two I thought were absolute masterpieces. For me, it's just been a reaction like that so I just look at that stuff and go, 'Oh, when the story kind of works I have no bias!'"

When it comes to the star of his film moving on to play everyone's favorite merc with a mouth, Deadpool, he is quite excited. "He's ready. I actually, I don't know much about that world, but I've seen the trailer and it looks hilarious!"

Perhaps a trailer will be arriving soon and Reynolds showed it to his previous director? It's not uncommon for actors to have access to locked or private trailers before the public does, however, it's also possible Singh was referring to the leaked footage from before Deadpool went into production.

We didn't stop talking comics there, though. Everyone has a favorite super hero and for Singh - it's Batman. "My favorite is always Batman, but anybody goes near Batman alone is just asking to get hit with a stick. I think [Christopher Nolan] nailed it so well, you have to wait for another decade before that stuff starts looking dated. That's far away. The mixture, what [Zack Snyder] is doing, that's all fine," Singh explained with a humble glee. "I wouldn't mind doing any super hero. The thing of it is, you have to have the people who understand the sensibility. Right now, the studios will not work with the director to make the script in that particular way. So, you're either breathing that life completely and I just look for one where the story is bigger than the fanbase and then I'd be in."

He admitted, he prefers to stay away from the "fantastical elements," of film, which is what he tried his best to do with Self/less. Can you think of a super hero who is grounded in reality, free of fantastical elements for Singh to direct?
