Voice actor Nolan North has let slip that Naughty Dog is working on a sequel to their hit survival horror video game The Last of Us.

Speaking during a panel at Metrocon in June, North – who voiced David in the original game – was asked if he's doing any more work for Naughty Dog.

"For now I know they're doing Last of Us 2, but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise," North responded before being cut off by a fan.

North had a relatively minor role in The Last of Us compared to Troy Baker, who played main character Joel. For his part, Baker claimed total ignorance as concerns the sequel at Indy PopCon this past weekend.

"Okay, so I'm... And by the way I know nothing," he said. "I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told."

So The Last of Us 2 remains in the state of being unofficially confirmed, maybe. It's possible that North was misinformed about the game, but it's also possible that he heard something from a Naughty Dog employee that hasn't reached Baker yet. Voice actors are often the last to know about these developments, as they are brought in pretty late on the project.

The Last of Us was released on PlayStation 3 in 2013 to nearly unanimous critical acclaim. A remastered version of the game hit the PlayStation 4 in 2014.
