It was an exciting day for Naurto fans when Viz Media announced that Boruto: Naruto The Movie will debut at New York Comic Con. The announcement, made yesterday at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, means the movie will also be screened on Naruto's birthday.

It looks like New York Comic Con has become the "go-to" con for Naruto fans because not only will they be among the first to see the film stateside, Naruto's creator, Masashi Kishimoto will also be on hand as one of the convention's featured guests.

Kishimoto will be at convention on Thursday, October 8 and Saturday, October 10 for panel appearances. Kishimoto's original Naruto manga series was one of the genre's most popular, running from 1999 to 2014. Outside of the Japanese comic, the franchise grew into multimedia franchise with anime, video games, collectibles, and more.

New York Comic-Con is one of the United States' biggest comic conventions, held annually in New York City's Jacob Javits Center. This year's convention will run from October 8 to 11.

Par to the Start of a New Era Project that commemorates Naruto's 15th anniversary, the movie centers on Naruto's son, Boruto, and Sasuke's daughter, Sarada.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie is based on the popular manga by Masashi Kishimoto, who co-crote the screenplay for the film with Ukyō Kodachi. The feature is directed by Hiroyuki Yamashita.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie opens August 7 in Japanese theaters.
