Samuel L. Jackson Would Love To Do An Unbreakable Sequel

It has been 15 years since M. Night Shyamalan's comic book-inspired film Unbreakable made its debut. To mark the occasion, Entertainment Weekly' has put together an eight-page spread for their special Comic-Con Double issue, which features quotes and insights from a dozen people responsible for making the film happen.

The film wasn't the box office juggernaut that Touchstone Pictures had been hoping for, even though it grossed nearly $250M at the worldwide box office against a $75M production budget. Shyamalan had hoped to make two more, but Touchstone wouldn't give him the green light. Over time the film has continued to grow a large following, and it's generally considered to be one of Shyamalan's best films. With interest still high could we one day see an Unbreakable sequel?

"People talk to me about that movie all the time," Samuel L. Jackson, who portrayed mentor and villain Elijah Price/Mr. Glass, remarked to EW. "Night's still around. Bruce is still around. I'm still around. And I'd love to break out of the asylum."

A sequel would largely hinges on if writer-director M. Night Shyamalan can come up with an angle that is worthy of its predecessor. "I don't know," Shyamalan pondered. "Maybe there's an interest right now in the underlying struggles and fantasies that are being fulfilled in comic books and not being fulfilled in the real world."
