Happy Birthday Steve Rogers, A.K.A. Captain America!

Somewhere along the way, somebody had to decide what Steve Rogers' birthday was -- and of course, they picked the Fourth of July.

Captain America (Steve Rogers) Steven Grant Rogers was born on a Thursday, July 4, 1918 (or 1920, depending on your source), to Joseph and Sarah Rogers.

Rogers had a rough childhood, including the loss of his parents and a hard time in orphanages, eventually trying and failing to join up with the U.S. military in the run-up to World War II. Ultimately he was selected for Project Rebirth, which took his frail form and bulked it up to the peak of human potential.

For years, the serum kept Cap from aging normally, aided by the fact that he spent decades in frozen stasis after believing to have sacrificed himself in the North Atlantic at the end of World War II. Recently, those effects were reversed and, now an elderly man ,Commander Rogers remains active in the defense of the U.S. while his longtime partner Sam "The Falcon" Wilson has taken up the mantle of Captain America.
