Time has put together and list of the wealthiest superheroes, and number one may not be who you expect.
Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne are usually the first to spring to mind when talking about the super powered one percent, but they only rank second and third, respectively.
It’s T’Challa, the Blank Panther, who takes the top spot with a completely fictional net worth of $90.7 trillion. Tony Stark (Iron Man) is runner-up with $12.4 billion, and Bruce Wayne (Batman) is third with $9.2 billion.
Time explains that, as is often the case in the real world, it all comes down to control of natural resources, in this case vibranium:
According to the comics, the material costs $10,000 per gram, and Wakanda’s Vibranium vaults have 10,000 tons of the stuff (Doomwar #1). A little math and that amount of Vibranium would cost more than the GDP of the entire world.
The mutants Emma Frost and Professor Charles Xavier round out the top five, but none can topple the King of Wakanda.
