While Bryan Singer's X-Men films have been a big success as a franchise for 20th Century Fox, any fan of the original comics – even if they enjoy the films, - has to admit there's something missing: color. The films have taken the X-Men characters out of their traditionally brightly colored costumes and placed them in dark jumpsuits instead.

While answering fan questions for Yahoo, Singer explained why that aesthetic was chosen and hinted that the films may start to evolve out of it in X-Men: Apocalypse:

The X-Men are sort of a fighting team, so it was always an attempt at being realistic to have them in fighting uniforms, flight suits, things like that. In X-Men: First Class…we harked back to the original colors of the original costumes from the 1963 comic, which were all the same, they were all uniforms.

But I will say, in X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a chance, without giving anything way, that you may get closer to seeing what I think…you are interested in seeing.

Check out when X-Men: Apocalypse and other movies are coming out in ComicBook.com's Movie Release Schedule.
