While the showrunner has tagged the show as deceased and fans continue to rally behind unlikely digital platforms to rescue it, NBC's Constantine might not be forgotten even if it really is gone.

That's becasue according to Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle told IGN that she's optimistic that Matt Ryan's version of John Constantine could still make his way to The CW.

"Yeah, we really want to do it," Mericle said. "It's something we've been talking to DC about and it's just a question of some political things, but also the actor's schedule. We're trying to work it out, but we don't know 100 percent if it's going to happen."

Originally, discussions about Constantine making an Arrow cameo centered on the mystic being an entry point into the supernatural side of the DC Universe for Oliver Queen. Now, he's already seen some strange stuff -- including a functionining Lazarus Pit that resurrected his sister from the dead -- but with Damien Darhk as the next big villain, IGN speculates there might be even more for the now-Green Arrow to learn.

Meanwhile, ComicBook.com has heard rumblings of a new player hoping to woo Warner Bros. Television and production partners into a second season for Constantine -- but it seems like a real long shot considering that all the expired contracts would now have to be reworked in order to get the original staff and cast back.

Arrow returns in October on The CW.
