When the 67th Emmy Award nominations were announced several days ago, Netflix's Daredevil received a nomination for "Outstanding Special Visual Effects." To celebrate, Shade VFX posted a small clip of the brilliant digital work their team of artists created for one particular fight scene.

After the kind, elderly tenant Elena Cardenas is killed, Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is on the hunt for the man responsible: Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio). He tracks down The Kingpin to Pier 81, but it is a trap and Nobu (Peter Shinkoda), who is dressed in red ninja garb, is waiting for him.

The two engage in a brutal fight scene. Nobu pulverizes Daredevil with his shoge hook. Nobu slices, stabs and even guts the vigilante of Hell's Kitchen like a fish and drags him across the floor. When all seems lost, Matt knocks Nobu into a barrel of gasoline and smashes a light from above to allow sparks to set the fuel ablaze.

What you didn't know, was that Nobu's deadly weapon never really existed. It was created by the talented folks at Shade VFX. Watch the final minute of the video below to see the reveal.

It's time to let the devil out. Marvel's Daredevil is here to clean up the streets of Hell's Kitchen, New York. Lawyer by day, street-level hero by night, Matt Murdock is on a mission to make his city a better place against an underground terror within the city.

Daredevil returns to Netflix for its second season in 2016.
