Xena: Warrior Princess is being rebooted to return to television at NBC, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The Hercules: The Legendary Journeys spinoff, starring Lucy Lawless as the titular warrior woman, premiered 20 years ago, and ended its six season run in 2001. The report suggests it will return as a limited series, similar to the upcoming Heroes Reborn and X-Files reboots, though it's too early to know how many episodes that would entail.

The project is very early in development, and is still seeking a writer, but original series executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are reportedly involved. Lawless's involvement with the project is also unknown at this time, but THR's sources say that NBC and the producers would like her involved both on screen and behind the scenes. Recent comments by Lawless suggest that she would be up for returning if asked.

NBC has not confirmed this report.
